20th anniversary of Bernd Kußmaul GmbH. Art meets design – Kußmaul goes pop: At a private view in Palma de Mallorca in March, the company surprised the famous American artist James Francis Gill by unveiling a 1969 VW Beetle wrapped in his own works of art.

With the millionth bearing bush the Bernd Kussmaul GmbH celebrates a small jubilee concerning her duplicate processing. The project teams of the company work on individual projects furthermore: from the extension of an unique “Vinoteca” in the Portals Hills hotel on Mallorca to the nominating for the Bugatti follow-up-model.

A figurehead of the year is among other things the cooperation “Garia by Kussmaul” which once again underscores the individual expertise in design and manufacturing. Rolls Royce, Jaguar – Land Rover as well as DIEHL Aircabin join to the famous customer list of the Bernd Kussmaul GmbH. This reflects also the selective internationalization of the presale.

The Bernd Kussmaul GmbH is "of age" and works customer-focussed in Design, Technology and Development, Quality assurance and Manufactory. KUSSMAUL lifestyle products are delivered to the United States and Russia. In June, the new KUSSMAUL showroom at Port Adriano in Mallorca (Design: Philippe Starck) opens in cooperation with Frauscher Espana. In October, the design and technology expertise will be presented at the "International Suppliers Fair" IZB in Wolfsburg.

The Bernd Kussmaul GmbH now has more than 50 employees working on client projects from the industrial sectors Automotive, Medical technology, Aerospace, Customized engineering solutions and Design. In Baden-Baden the new lifestyle products TimeTube and TimeWall are presented.

For the fourth time the Bernd Kussmaul GmbH awards with the price TOP 100 as Germanys top innovator in the middle-market. With a great summer fete staff and partners celebrate the anniversary "10 years Bernd Kussmaul GmbH in Weinstadt". At the Wolfsburg fair IZB we welcome our loyal customers at the original stand.

The Bernd Kussmaul GmbH again expands its facilities at the Jacobi-Areal in Weinstadt. The quality assurance is increased and the manufactory moves into new premises. As last year, the Bernd Kussmaul GmbH exhibits at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg.

In Weinstadt the new business field Design is launched. At the trade fair IZB in Wolfsburg the design study "Mone", a center console for aviation, is presented. The team of Bernd Kussmaul GmbH grows to 43 employees.

Expansion of Bernd Kussmaul GmbH premises at the Jacobi Areal in Weinstadt, Großheppach. Cutting-edge communications technology is introduced as the basis for a new customer and development center.

Bernd Kussmaul GmbH is certified to DIN EN ISO 13485 Quality Management System (QMS) for the design and manufacture of medical devices. The company again enters the TOP 100 competition to find the 100 most innovative companies in Germany. It achieves an impressive sixth place overall, winning the category for the most innovative business environment.

Bernd Kussmaul GmbH is featured on the Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation (WRS) stand - showcasing innovative businesses in the area - at the opening of the new Stuttgart trade fair center (Messe Stuttgart).

Bernd Kussmaul GmbH is included in the TOP 100 list for the second time. Günther Oettinger, Minister President of Baden-Württemberg, views the company premises during a visit to the Jacobi Areal.

Bernd Kussmaul GmbH is named the official supplier of selected components for the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 hypercar and for the cargo loading system for the new Airbus A380.

The firm enters the TOP 100 competition for the first time and is named one of the 100 most innovative companies in Germany.

By 2003, Bernd Kussmaul GmbH employs 15 permanent staff and a number of freelance specialists.

On July 15, the company completes its move to larger premises in Grossheppach. The new facility features labs equipped with the latest technology. This allows engineers to measure components and produce quality assurance documentation in-house.

In conjunction with Harro Höfliger GmbH, Bernd Kussmaul GmbH develops and builds two complete packaging machines - within just six months. Responsible for sourcing components, project management and co-ordination of actual assembly, this is Kussmaul's largest project to date.

Working with product developers at Adidas, Bernd Kussmaul GmbH conducts research into a variety of spikes for running shoes for the Olympic Games in Sydney. Upon completion of the test phase, the spikes are put into production and distributed to Adidas-sponsored athletes.

Audi Quattro GmbH contracts Bernd Kussmaul GmbH to head up procurement and act as project manager for the Audi RS4. This includes sourcing all new engine components. The company achieves DIN EN ISO 9001 certification.

In January, Bernd Kussmaul appoints a second employee and the following November, the company relocates from Breuningsweiler to Winnenden.

Bernd Kussmaul founds a limited liability company (GmbH).

Bernd Kussmaul starts his own business based in Breuningsweiler, 20km east of Stuttgart. He specializes in sourcing mechanical components for engineering and medical-technology companies.

Bernd Kussmaul joins AMG, where he is made responsible for sales and sourcing components in the motorsport division. In this role, he discovers the appeal of close partnerships and networks when plans are drawn up for suppliers to sponsor a racing team - the AMG Suppliers Team.

Bernd Kussmaul completes an apprenticeship as a mechanic, and embarks on a skills development program in engineering, with a focus on design, and also completes a business management course.
